Microsoft is joining in on the AMQP project, which is a messenger service to talk between servers.  There are already several linux groups involved, including Red Hat and Novell.  This will mean better interoperability between servers.

This is exciting to see that the server OSs of the future will be communicating on an open source platform.  I would consider this day a win for the open source community, as this proves we have gained the trust of banks, IT, and many other high-risk ventures.
