Now that all this talk has been going on about Socialism and Wealth Redistribution, I am wondering how this would all fit in with Jesus’ thoughts about the ‘Kingdom of God’. There are three things that come to mind immediately, and I’m sure there’s more.
“But they kept silent, for on the way they had discussed with one another which of them was the greatest. Sitting down, He called the twelve and said to them, ‘If anyone wants to be first, he shall be last of all and servant of all.'” Mark 9:34-35
“For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sake He became poor, so that you through His poverty might become rich.” 2 Corinthians 8:9
(In this one, Jesus himself is the example of the rich man whose wealth is redistributed for the sake of the poor.)
“And turning His gaze toward His disciples, He began to say, ‘Blessed are you who are poor, for yours is the kingdom of God. Blessed are you who hunger now, for you shall be satisfied. Blessed are you who weep now, for you shall laugh.'” Luke 6:20-21
