A good friend of mine who has been somewhat skeptical about the need for open source asked me over the weekend: Should electronic voting machines be open source. I gave him a lengthy rationale for why open source means better security and that some of the issues about intruders “hacking these machines” has more to due with stupidly devised infrastructure.
Anyway, here’s an article I found that explains the argument for open source voting machines well.
