Barack Obama had a full half-hour spot on major networks tonight.  One major theme was clear throughout it:  Barack Obama wants you to know he feels the pain of families.

The majority of this ad focus on individual families who had fallen on hard times over the last few years either because of the economy or health care, and in between had monologues by Obama and other supporters, and short clips of campaign speeches.

It was very warm and emotional, and I don’t remember “McCain” being mentioned one time.  It was almost all positive focused, except hits at Bush.

The monologues showed specific bullet points showing Obama’s solutions to the current troubles, although it didn’t go into fine-point detail.  As much as it was a pitch to undecided voters, it was a pitch to Obama supporters to remember why they were supporting him and to get energized during this last week.

The other thing it does is drown out everything else in the news right now.  He basically ensured that everyone’s going to be talking about this for at least another day, and to his credit, he kept it positive.  I don’t see anything that feeds a McCain attack on this alone.  Generally, it was tasteful and well done.
