I recently posted a short review about an interview with a Microsoft employee about open source, that has been met with some criticism.

Let me be clear.  I in no way wish to say that Microsoft is concerned or embracing the interests of the open source community.  I only intended to be fair, to call a spade a spade, and to say that for the albeit rare occasion that Microsoft releases source, that this is a step in the right direction.

In the end, this debate is about whether or not Microsoft should play well with the open source community or whether or not it is best served to die out in a flaming blaze of non-glory.

Yet, none of it matters.  The open source community will prevail either way.  No matter how much Microsoft contributes, no one is forced to use their standards over our own.  Open source is about choice, and if Microsoft wants in, good for them.
